Bandai 1/72 Scale Plastic Model. Custom Paint, Weathered
Star War's X-Wing!!!! This is probably my first Bandai model that's not Gundam, I got to say Bandai's model is insanely amazing and no matter you are the greenest beginner or a skillful master, you will definitely enjoy this kit.
Like any other Bandai kit, it's a "snap-together" model. All you need to do is following the instruction and cut the piece out from the frame (you can even use your hand to twist it off if you really want to...) then snap the piece together. After an hour or two, you will have a pretty decent model! The detail on this particular X-Wing is gorgeous, even without the paint job, but since I just got a new airbrush and compressor, of course I'm going to paint the hell out of it lol.
So after the rough assembly (cutting the tenon on an angle, leaving about 1/2 to 2/3 of original length, this way it's easier to take it apart for ease of painting) and plan out which color goes where (using designed color as reference only, not aiming for movie accurate at all), time to turn on my compressor and start shaking the paint bottle!! I even paint the tiny pilot (Luke!!!) and R2D2 this time...
I think it took me three nights to finish the paint job, after waiting for few more day for the paint to fully cure, it my favorite part - WEATHERING!!!!!! Nothing feel better than transforming a clean, freshly painted model into an object that seems actually existed in the real world. Every stain and dent carries a little story or event, and it's up to me to exhibit those stories on the model!
Like always, I'm not able to do battle damage on my model, especially if I spent hours to finesse the paint job... So I decided to first clear coat the finished paint job then just use acrylic wash and dry-brush to weather this model.
Like I mentioned before, this is a great model kit! If I got more time and budget I will definitely buy all the spaceship in the Bandai Star Wars series! Hopefully there will still be some in the market after I finish those unopened kit on my shelves.......
